Recipe: Green Protein Machine
Packed full of magnesium, folate and vitamins A, D, E & K, this is a great way to start the day. It sounds like a lot of spinach, but it really does blend down to nothing.
Prep: 4 minutes +overnight freezing
- 1 cup almond milk
- 2 handfuls of spinach
- 1 tbsp nut butter of your choice
- 1⁄2 frozen banana
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1-2 tsp hempseed protein (optional)
Freezing your bananas is a great way to preserve them when you have too many. It also ensures you always have some to hand. Whenever you have spare bananas, slice them into 1cm thick slices, place them on a non-stick tray and freeze until firm. Once frozen transfer the bananas into an airtight container and store in the freezer until needed. For the smoothie, place all the ingredients apart from the hempseed protein, into the blender and start the blender on low, increasing the speed to high until you have a smooth blend. Add more honey to taste if you like. If using protein, add it at the end for the last few seconds, we've found it tastes better this way!
