By choosing in season food from local producers, you can help to reduce the CO2 emissions and energy used to grow and transport the ingredients.

Here, we share some of our favourite family-friendly recipes that make use of scrumptious autumnal ingredients that you can find in season during the autumn months. 

What Vegetables Are in Season in Autumn? 

Autumn is the time for harvest, so there are plenty of vegetables that are in season and available fresh in the UK. All of these veggies are suitable for babies of any age to eat when cooked correctly:

Artichoke, aubergine, beetroot, broad beans, broccoli, brussel sprouts, butternut squash, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, celeriac, celery, courgette, cucumber, fennel, green beans, kale, kohlrabi, leeks, lettuce, marrow, mushrooms, onions, pak choi, parsnips, peas, peppers, potatoes, pulses, pumpkin, runner beans, shallots, spinach, swede, sweetcorn, swiss chard, tomatoes.

What Fruits Are in Season in Autumn?

There are also some delicious fruits that can be picked and enjoyed in the autumn months. These fruits can be incorporated into baby’s meal:

Apples, blackberries, damsons, elderberries, figs, grapes, pears, plums.
