Cottage Pie

Tasting Notes

Protein is important to your little one’s nutritional wellbeing. As a result, we don’t skimp on the beef in our household classic, ensuring it has the same ratio of beef as you would expect at home.

This creates a great depth of flavour, supported by nutrient-rich vegetables such as swede, sweet potatoes, carrots, mushrooms and onions. Goodness, whether it be flavour or nutrients, is fundamental to us.

The story behind the recipe

Let’s be honest, you wouldn’t cook Cottage Pie with only a teaspoon of beef and bulk it up with sauce and powder-based stock. Turns out some guys think this is ok for your little one. I don’t.

Our meat skus are 10% more expensive than other brands because there’s 20% beef in there! The industry average for a similar pouch recipe is 5%.

I wanted a recipe that was full of beef and vegetables. We also added our own veg-stock, which is made from scratch for extra flavour too.

Beef (20%), Sweet Potato (17%), Potato (15%), Vegetable Stock (Water***, Leek, Parsnip, Carrot, Mushroom, Turmeric, Herbs and Spices) (12%), Swede (9%), Peas (8%), Onions (8%), Carrot (4%), Mushroom (4%), Tomato Puree (2%), Garlic, Dried Mushroom, Dried Rosemary, Dried Thyme, Cinnamon, Fennel Seeds, Black Pepper (***non-organic).

Our Beef comes from Wales, less than 40 miles from our factory. Organic & Outdoor reared, we think it’s the best beef you can get.

Sweet Potato is highly nutritious, as well as providing well balanced calorific content

We make our stock from scratch. It’s filled with veg, spices and herbs, then boiled and strained to make, (in our minds), the perfect stock.
