Mexican Beans

Tasting notes

We’ve packed this recipe full of two types of delicious bean: kidney and black bean, which creates an amazing and interesting texture for your little one.

Vegetables, herbs and spices such as peppers, onions, tomatoes and sweet potato make this a classic Mexican meal!

The story behind the recipe

Ariba Ariba! This is an amazing vegetarian version of a traditional Chilli Con Carne. I grew up in a veggie household and ‘Chilli Beans’ was a family favourite; a staple meal full of all the classic flavours you’d expect from a good old chilli.

Mexican Bean is a Babease team favourite – take the leftovers from the pouch, spread onto a tortilla wrap, add lettuce, a dollop of yoghurt,  grated cheddar cheese, pickled jalapenos, leftover chicken, you name it! Wrap it up and you’ve got a delicious Mexican-charged light lunch.

Organic Cooked Wholegrain Brown Rice (35%), Organic Tomatoes (15%), Organic Cooked Kidney Beans (13%), Organic Sweet potato (9%), Organic Cooked Black Eyed Beans (7%), Organic Vegetable Stock (Water*, Organic Leek, Organic Parsnip, Organic Carrot, Organic Mushroom, Organic Turmeric, Organic Herbs and Spices) (6%), Organic Red Peppers (5%), Organic Onions (4%), Organic Tomato Puree (3%), Organic Rapeseed Oil, Organic Garlic, Organic Coriander Leaves, Organic Cumin Seeds, Organic Coriander Seeds, Organic Paprika, Organic Cayenne Pepper (* non-organic)

Our wholegrain brown rice adds complex carbohydrates to create a complete meal.

We make our stock from scratch. It’s filled with veg, spices and herbs, then boiled and strained to make, (in our minds), the perfect stock.

Sweet Potato is delicious and adds an interesting depth of flavour
